YORK SPORT INJURY CLINIC - EXAM PERIOD (April 2025)

All York Athletes must be rostered by a varsity team at York University to book appointments at the clinic.

If you are interested in scheduling an appointment with any of our doctors, please email sportinjuryclinic@yorku.ca. They will be in ONLY a couple of times during this month.

Certified Athletic Therapists will be available for in-person assessment and treatment during the exam period. Please ensure that your appointment time does not conflict with your exam schedule. Once seen, it is up to you to book ahead as per your plan of care. Treatments may be moved or cancelled if you are not compliant with your plan of care.

If it is URGENT and you need to speak to our STAFF - Andrea, Tracy, or Britt (Certified athletic therapists) directly, please book into their WAIT LIST schedule and a Certified Athletic Therapist will contact you..

NO SHOW/LATE CANCELLATION policy is in effect: $30 for each missed/late cancelled appointment.. Please email sportinjuryclinic@yorku.ca or call 416-736-2100 x77209 if you will be late or cannot make your appointment.

Certified Athletic Therapists are best known for their quick-thinking on-field emergency care of professional and elite athletes. The first to respond when someone gets hurt, they are experts at injury assessment and rehabilitation. It’s that same mix of on-site care and active rehabilitation skills that makes Athletic Therapists so effective in treating the musculoskeletal (muscles, bones, and joints) injuries of all Canadians, whether on the field or in the clinic.

Athletic therapists adhere to the Sport Medicine Model of care. They treat a wide range of patients, from kids with concussions to seniors recovering from hip replacement surgery, using various manual therapies, modalities, exercise prescription and even bracing and taping. The treatment varies but the objective doesn’t: an Athletic Therapist's goal is to help clients return to their usual activities, whether that means playing competitive sports or walking to the mailbox and back.

Dr. Amandev Aulakh

Dr. Amandev Aulakh completed her sport and exercise medicine fellowship at the University of Ottawa in 2014 where she provided varsity sport coverage for the Carleton University women’s hockey team and the University of Ottawa women’s soccer team.

Dr. Aulakh has passed the CASEM Diploma in Sport and Exercise Medicine. She practices family medicine in Oakville and has a Certificate of Added Competence in Sport and Exercise Medicine through the College of Family Physicians of Canada. Dr. Aulakh also sits on the OMA Section for Sport and Exercise Medicine executive and is a TUE Committee Volunteer for the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport.

Dr. Aulakh has worked with Canada Soccer since 2016 and is the team physician for the Canada Soccer National Development Centre Ontario. She has also provided local event coverage for Skate Canada events and was the Chief Medical Officer for the 2018 and 2019 Autumn Classic International competitions. She was part of the Canadian core medical team for the 2019 Winter Universiade, 2019 Parapan Am Games and the 2020 Summer Paralympics and she was the Chief Medical Officer at the 2020 Youth Olympic Games.

Lee Schofield Dr.

Lee completed his clinical sport and exercise medicine fellowship at the University of Toronto (2010). He completed his undergraduate medical training at the University of Toronto, and graduated from family practice residency (CCFP-SEM) at St. Michael’s Hospital in 2009, where he continues to practice comprehensive family medicine. Prior to medical school, Dr. Schofield earned Bachelor of Science and Honours Bachelor of Kinesiology degrees from McMaster University, where his interest in sport medicine began.

Lee’s interests are in both sport medicine and family medicine/obstetrics, and he has clinical experience in exercise guidelines and injuries during pregnancy. Dr. Schofield was a member of the core Canadian medical team for the 2015 Toronto Pan Am Games, 202(1) Tokyo Olympics, 2016 Rio Olympic Games, and 2018 PyeongChang Olympic Games. He was also the co-Chief Medical Officer for the Toronto 2017 Invictus Games. He currently travels with the Skate Canada (Figure Skating) national team, and the Canadian National Women’s Soccer Team. He has previously worked with Diving/Plongeon Canada and Triathlon Canada, and is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) and HCP Emergency First Responder.

Dr. Schofield has been the Chief Medical Officer for Team Canada at the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China (2014) and the Winter University Games in Almaty, Kazakhstan (2017) and Krasnoyarsk, Russia (2019), and was a member of the Canadian Medical team at the Summer University Games in Kazan Russia (2013). Dr. Schofield is currently appointed as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family & Community Medicine at the University of Toronto.

Lee enjoys staying healthy and active, instructing group exercise classes part time, swimming, cycling, running and pursuing distance races in triathlon and running.
